Solving mobile banking app pain points with a new design approach

Pain points in privacy, reliability and usability

The first step in designing a better banking app is to identify the problems. I conducted a small research by asking users on Instagram about their experience and frustrations with banking applications. The responses were filled with numerous complaints about various aspects of the user journey.

Then I group the pain points into 3 main category

Hide the balance, add live status, fully customizable home

  • The live network status helps to manage user expectations by ensuring smooth transaction processing.

  • The total balance will be hidden by default on the homepage and will be covered by a navigation bar for extra privacy for the user.

  • The home page will be customizable, similar to the phone's home screen. This allows users to personalize it according to their needs.

The transaction page presents a spending overview, while the overall user interface is designed to function like a dashboard, displaying only the necessary information to the user.

Next actions

The design above is just a prototype based on my hypothesis. The most effective way to determine if the solution truly works is to conduct usability testing with users.

However, This exercise is one of the best brain twisters I've ever done, The overall duration of this case study happens in just 5 days!
